A Visit With Eco-Friendly Designer, Allison Parris

A Visit With Eco-Friendly Designer, Allison Parris

When Kaitlin wrote a post about Allison Parris, I immediately fell in love with her dresses.  We had written about Allison’s designs back in 2010 when she presented her collection as well.  I was so excited when Allison invited me to her showroom and studio in New York to view her Spring/Summer 2012 collection.  I took Clara with me to do the modeling because the samples were a perfect fit!

Allison’s designers are elegant with a hint of whimsy.  Flirty, yet sophisticated.  All of her dresses and separates would definitely give you the perfect chic look for any special event.

I promise … Read More »

3 Reasons Why I Don’t Wear Heels

3 Reasons Why I Don’t Wear Heels

Rarely do I wear heels. While I love the look and the height they give me (I’m only 5’4″), I just can’t wear them anymore without hating every minute I have them on.

1. I fell.  Yep, I fell hard and my body did not react in a positive way.  I was wearing my 4″ Louboutin pumps in Dallas and miss stepped going up a curb.  I didn’t think my knees, hips and palms were ever going to recover.  I honestly believe that young children bounce when they fall.  This 45+ woman definitely didn’t bounce.

2. I wear progressive lens bifocal glasses. … Read More »

Manic Monday: A Little Lace and My Trip to New York

I love the look of black and lace. With Monday’s always being the day I seem to be in a rush, this is such a chic and easy outfit to throw on.

Today I’m on my way to New York City for a little business and a little pleasure.  My daughter, Clara and I have a long list of vintage shops we want to hit.  Since it’s Spring Vacation, I’m expecting Manhattan to be a bit more crowded than usual.  Luckily, we won’t be doing the tourist activities.  Having lived there, I have my favorite spots to visit and they aren’t … Read More »

Shop Your Closet: Transition 101

Shop Your Closet: Transition 101

I’ve never been a huge fan of transition time in my closet. Transition means uncertainty and this is definitely an issue when it comes to Oklahoma weather.  It never fails that as soon as I start to throw my heavy sweaters into the dry cleaning bag, it will turn cold again.

Recently we’ve been enjoying some balmy 65 degree afternoons.  These warmer days send me into transition mode.  This is the time of year where I have to look at combining the cold weather clothing with the warmer weather clothing.  UGH!  Fashion nightmare!

So I’ve already suggested that you should own a … Read More »

Chic Street Style: “Specs” ulating

I have to wear glasses all the time or my world is a blur.  I started wearing glasses about 30 years ago and have always thought of them as a fashion accessory.  I’ve tried contacts, but there is something about sticking my finger in my eye that gives me the heebie jeebies.  Plus, with all the fabulous frame choices out there…who wouldn’t want to be blind in style!

Recently I was introduced to a new company that makes shopping for glasses online a breeze.  I’m a hands-on kind of gal.  I like to touch things before I buy them.  This website … Read More »

Kate Spade Cork Flats with a Neon Toe Patch

Kate Spade – Elina – Cork Ballet Flat with Flourescent Pink Toe Cap

I love these Kate Spade flats!  Obviously I’ve been obsessing a lot lately about the neon pink pops of color this spring.  Kate Spade came out with this incredibly cute handbag and I can think of tons of ways to style these shoes.  I found these at footnotesonline.com.

Kate Spade has the best tumblr page and the Kate Spade blog is so inspiring. I love the Kate Spade Fall 2012 collection with the mix of patterns and textures. There are still plenty of bright colors too! Ok, I admit … Read More »
