Blissful Communication with Your Kids | October 27, 2010

Blissful Communication with Your Kids

By Matthew Ferry

Being a parent is not easy. Your children want to express themselves in ways that is conflicting with your desires and the way that you want the house to run. Ultimately, we are challenged to experience bliss with our kids because we want our kids to do what we want them to do.

The problem is, they don’t really care. If you’re going to experience ridiculous bliss as a parent and with your kids, then you’re going to have to take responsibility as a parent. Your kids changing their behavior will … Read More »

Don’t Be Afraid!

If you’re entering the world of teens it can seem a daunting task to say the least. The door to their world can seem alien and unfriendly, but don’t be afraid. Why would you do this? Because when you learn about someone else’s world it opens the door for relationship building. Ask your teen questions about their likes and dislikes and then go … Read More »

Beauty Tips for Teens

Here are my top 10 beauty tips for Teens (but they are great for adults too!)

Teens usually have oily/acne prone skin.  A knee-jerk reaction is usually to constantly wash and use toner to “dry up” the problem.  This only makes things worse.  You should wash 3 times a day at the most, and you shouldn’t strip your skin.  This seems counter intuitive, but you cannot dry out the skin and expect acne to go away.  This only makes it worse.

Use moisturizer. Once again, it seems to be the opposite of what you think.  If you … Read More »

Smart High School Shopping Tips

Years ago back to school shopping trips with Mom to update my wardrobe was a favorite rite of passage. Just because you’re watching your wallet this year doesn’t mean that you can’t find great clothing for your kids – and have fun in the process.

Hosting An Exchange Student | November 17, 2008

Hosting An Exchange Student

Wow!  I never thought I would be writing an article about having an EXCHANGE STUDENT!  I mean, we have five children and we are so busy that one more could just put us over the top!  My husband, Scott, and I always said that we don’t know how people did it, taking on extra kids like exchange students, foster kids, relatives, etc.  We absolutely did not search this one out! Then it happened!  Our son, David, is a senior in high school.  He plays football and there was a new exchange student from Germany on the team.  He is the … Read More »
