It’s Better in Leather | August 11, 2011

It’s Better in Leather

When I was 18, I put a bumpersticker on my car from a leather boy shop in Boston. Sporting discreet little handcuffs, it read: “It’s Better in Leather.” This really spiffed up my uber-dorky VW Dasher! My feeling of cool was cut short when, unsurprisingly, my parents removed it. I was hugely annoyed at their bourgeois mentality but soon realized that suburban New England was not ready for me…or my pretentious leather.

My love affair with leather began long before my bumper sticker and continues long after. Gone is the 1980s, and 1990s, and 2000s and with the decades, … Read More »

Do You See Rude People? | January 11, 2011

Do You See Rude People?

Me too!

And the good news is I have a solution for you, read on…

OK, so you are at the mall returning your Great Aunt Moyra’s holiday gift. This is an annual tradition because every year your dear old Aunt Moyra gives you a bathrobe that you don’t need or want. And, Great Aunt Moyra has been doing this, for well, as long as you can remember anyway, and you just can’t figure out why.

Now your family has told you that she does this because she is old. And she did turn 102 on her last birthday but she still drives, … Read More »

Choosing Abundance

Here we are, greeting the dawn of a new year.  Many folks have made their resolutions by now, others are still reflecting on 2010.  My hope for all in 2011 is that we’ll choose abundant and meaningful living.

Oftentimes the word abundant conjures up images of wealth and possessing a lot of “stuff”.  Personally, I don’t define that as abundance at all.  I think abundance comes with the joy one feels when arising each day – the joy of new opportunities, of spending time with loved ones, and the chance to help make someone’s day a little brighter.  It comes, too, … Read More »

Let Go Of The Past, Release Your Inner Happiness | October 26, 2010

Let Go Of The Past, Release Your Inner Happiness

Often times, I find myself looking back into my past relationships to reflect on what went wrong just for the sake of understanding what to avoid in the future. Lots of times, relationships end for reasons that can easily be avoided, and the friendships that could’ve remained when the smoke cleared have been destroyed. It’s good to reflect on the things that made one such a great guy, and one such a bad fit.

The pattern I came across while rummaging through my past relationship memory bank was that I never let go when I should’ve. Things would begin to be … Read More »

My Life So Far (In One Hundred Words) | March 15, 2010

My Life So Far (In One Hundred Words)

I recently came across an article in a year-old issue of Glamour magazine in which several well-known actresses, authoresses and comediennes summarized the secrets of their success in exactly 100 words.  And although I’m not the hallmark of success, it piqued my interest and made me want to bore you all with 100 of my own words.  (I’ll have to admit, I’m crapping cinder blocks over here.  Can I be THAT SUCCINCT?  Me, with my penchant for dictionaries and big words?!)

Here goes.

Born in Belleville to Bob and Mo.  First child, so grew up as peacekeeper between two younger siblings.  Had … Read More »
