It’s not the Titanic | February 6, 2012

It’s not the Titanic

But you’re close. The French steamboat “Paris” left Le Havre, France, for it’s maiden voyage in 1921 for final destination New York. The ocean liner made it to New York but unfortunately, like the Titanic, it too met tragedy early in life and was destroyed by fire in 1939.

Now you can relive those earlier years of grandeur with this replica painting of the original steamboat Paris. Replacing traditional cloth canvas with reclaimed metal from old roof tins, this painting is truly unique. Hand painted oil brings this steamboat back to life with vibrant colors on textured metal. Left in their … Read More »

Think Outside the Basket | January 30, 2012

Think Outside the Basket

What’s in your basket?

My basket is filled with vintage style Edison bulbs. It just goes to show you what a little imagination can do. Take a metal wire basket, fill it with light bulbs and hang it from the ceiling. You get cool vintage industrial lighting for the home. Vintage metal wire baskets are a great alternative to using cardboard boxes for storage. They can hide away shoes, books and even the kid’s toys. Baskets work hard but sometimes even baskets likes to have a little fun.

So next time you line your shelves with wire baskets, get a little creative. … Read More »

Are you a Drifter? | January 23, 2012

Are you a Drifter?

Then you will like this driftwood chandelier. Made from reclaimed wood, this chandelier will light up any room with style.

Hang it over the dining room table or in the entry foyer and this chandelier will add real character to your space. This chandelier looks great alone or in a group. Either way, choosing reclaimed wood for your lighting is going green and that’s good for our environment. No new trees were destroyed in the making of this chandelier, just good old driftwood. So who needs sea glass when you can have a chandelier that looks like this! Do good, go … Read More »

Got Milk? | August 31, 2011

Got Milk?

No but we have plenty of vintage milk bottles.

Light them up and you have vintage industrial lighting. Who would think that ordinary milk bottles could look so good. Take whatever your collection or favorite things are and light them up to create lighting for your home. I like these bottles even without the milk but they are even better as industrial lighting. Don’t limit the lighting in your home to just chandeliers and table lamps. Accent lighting like this can make a room and also let you enjoy your vintage finds day and night. A little creativity can go a … Read More »

When Is Going Green Too Green? | August 24, 2011

When Is Going Green Too Green?

This industrial dining table might be taking “green” to an extreme but I like it.

Covered in soft green moss, it’s hard to notice the industrial metal on this big dining table. Made with a great rust finish, no worries if you have to water the moss to keep it green. Just pour it on.

I know it might be hard to eat on top of this dining table but think how much fun and how good it would look for that special occasion or holiday. Bringing the outdoors in with potted flowers and real moss, this industrial table certainly … Read More »

Do You Know Where Your Gnome Is? | August 17, 2011

Do You Know Where Your Gnome Is?

I was minding my own business shopping for vintage metal chairs and there he was. He had a long white beard and a pointy blue hat.

Generally found outdoors in the lawn or garden, this gnome was hanging out with a pair of vintage industrial chairs. This gnome knows a good thing when he sees it. These metal chairs are vintage and they were originally used outside on the back patio. Exposed to the elements for many years, the paint on these chairs has worn off and been replaced with a great rust finish. It’s now time to bring these outdoor … Read More »

A Simple Ball of Yarn | March 10, 2011

A Simple Ball of Yarn

Never looked so good.

I don’t knit or crochet.  But combine some yarn with an industrial bar cart and I think I will start. Made of metal and wire mesh, this industrial cart has all the right ingredients. A great vintage finish and some yarn make this cart a real winner. Although I think I would prefer to use this as a bar cart instead of a sewing station.

This bar cart can bring industrial style to any room. It fits in any space and is multifunctional. I like it best in the study, den or dining area with some bottles … Read More »

Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep | February 28, 2011

Now I Lay Me Down To Sleep

But not on these pillows. Burlap pillows are a great accent for that vintage industrial style in any space. As much as I like burlap, not sure it’s soft enough for this face. But I would use burlap pillows on the sofa, chair or even on the bed for extra pillows.

Burlap is a course fabric but has been recently refined to make products for the home. Once used only for bags and sacks to transport goods like coffee beans, burlap is now used to make pillows, ottomans and chair cushions. I like pillows like these that use real … Read More »
