3 Items You Must Have In Your Closet | April 16, 2012

3 Items You Must Have In Your Closet

Let’s say you’ve changed weight or you’re sick of your clothes.  Maybe your daughter raided your closet and you’re favorite sweater now looks like she stretched it into a dress.  I admit all these things have happened to me recently. So thinking about what I absolutely HAVE to have in my closet to build a wardrobe, I put together this list.

1. White cotton long-sleeved blouse.  Don’t get one with a bunch of ruffles or one that looks like you raided a man’s closet.  Go for something simple with clean lines.

2. Black pencil skirt.  Don’t get one that is too short. … Read More »

Douglas Says: Fashion is Made in America | April 5, 2012

Douglas Says: Fashion is Made in America

Douglas Says’ main theme this year for Fall 2012 is Fashion Made in America. What better way to show this theme then with patriotic fashion. His desire? To have people support American made products. This way, it will introduce more jobs and put more food on American’s tables.

He uses jersey knit fabric, an American made fabric, on all his designs. His designs are strictly American made. One bit of advice he gives about the fabric is that it works fantastic as a travel collection because the fabric is practically wrinkle free. The fabric is known for its comfort and fit … Read More »

How I Dress My Apple Shape: Easy As Pie! | April 2, 2012

How I Dress My Apple Shape: Easy As Pie!

I personally own all of Trinny Woodall and Susannah Constantine‘s books and their original book What Not to Wear, which was published in 2003, is my bible of sorts.  I’ve always been a fan of their “no nonsense” approach when it comes to dressing your body shape.  If you don’t own this book, run to the bookstore NOW!

My best friend Jill and I often joke about being the Trinny and Susannah of Tulsa, Oklahoma.  I have the big boobs, Jill has no boobs. (OK, really that isn’t true at all!).  Jill has the amazing waist and I have not waist … Read More »

Engaging with Fashion | March 29, 2012

Engaging with Fashion

All the best brands are working on their engagement marketing — most have a strong presence on Facebook, Twitter, and tumblr.

One of my recent favorites is Kate Spade. Its colorful Kate Spade New York tumblog is constantly updated with photos of not only new fashions, but people working behind the scenes and the places they are. Everything is pretty and classy and fun!

Kate Spade’s Facebook page uses eye-catching art to pull fans into blog posts – and you usually don’t regret clicking. Its twitter is always posting cute photos and replying to followers, making the brand more engaging.

I might be … Read More »

Shop Your Closet: Transition 101 | March 8, 2012

Shop Your Closet: Transition 101

I’ve never been a huge fan of transition time in my closet. Transition means uncertainty and this is definitely an issue when it comes to Oklahoma weather.  It never fails that as soon as I start to throw my heavy sweaters into the dry cleaning bag, it will turn cold again.

Recently we’ve been enjoying some balmy 65 degree afternoons.  These warmer days send me into transition mode.  This is the time of year where I have to look at combining the cold weather clothing with the warmer weather clothing.  UGH!  Fashion nightmare!

So I’ve already suggested that you should own a … Read More »

Trendy Tuesday: A Hint of Leopard | February 28, 2012

Trendy Tuesday: A Hint of Leopard

All dressed up and no where to go? Or all dressed up and everywhere to go? Here is a chic outfit with a pop of leopard to show off your personality. I love wearing animal print but hate to be dressed head to toe in it. Wear hints of print in your shoes, accessories or one piece of clothing while neutralizing the rest of your outfit. Always on the go? Keep looking chic no matter where you go! Enjoy the rest of the week ladies.
