Letter from the Editor
BETH ANDERSON – Editor in Chief
I grew up in Oklahoma and never have I experienced true fear with the weather. As a child, when we heard tornado sirens, my family would stand outside and look up at the sky waiting for something to happen. There is a standing joke here that when the sirens go off, you get out your lawn chair and crack open a beer. Needless to say, after the most recent string of deadly tornadoes, I take those sirens extremely seriously.
I’m sharing this weather insight with you because I’m relating this to my business. My day is filled with sirens in my office. These sirens can come in the form of emails, phone calls, staff needs and client requests. I find that I often don’t address all those sirens head-on or I let them go without my 100% focus. I don’t go as far as to sit in my lawn chair with a cold beverage, but I do find myself not always attentive. I just launched our new Ebay store and consignment business, I’m doing styling and wardrobe consulting in addition to running Chic Galleria magazine. With the influx of work comes the need for me to take these sirens seriously.
On a recent trip to New York, I met with Yuli Ziv to discuss my role with Style Coalition in collaboration with Hearst Digital Media. Her insight was so refreshing. She was able to give me some thoughts and a new perspective on which sirens I needed to perk up and pay attention too. Sometimes I takes someone on the outside looking in to tell you what has been in front of your face all along. I’m grateful to Yuli for helping me direct my attention to what needed to be achieved this year.
So I write this as I’m waiting for the sound of thunder (my Duran Duran reference for the night). Storms will come and go both outside and in my office. Knowing when to pay attention is something I’m learning when it comes to the weather and my business.
I want to thank each of you for reading Chic Galleria magazine and for sharing it with your friends. I strive everyday to keep you in mind with every article, photo, advertisement, product feature and video I proof and schedule for publishing. I love your feedback, so please feel free to comment on an article or email me directly! beth@chicgalleria.com
Don’t forget to buy a copy of ELLE magazine in May. I’m thrilled to have been featured in an advertisement for Olay.
xoxo

Hey Beth
Why not consider me to write an advice column for your women readers. All of the women’s mags have women as advice writers. Sort of like Sex in The City where Carrie was clueless about men and went to her gal pals for advice who were equally clueless. Asking a woman about a problem with a man is like a guy asking his buddies on what it feels like for a woman to be pregnant.
For the record, I am a resident expert on the sites: yahooanswers.com as well as advice.lovedetour.com.
You could set your mag apart by featuring me as an advice columnist.
Blessings on you and yours
John Wilder
