But after years of parading fashion victims in front of the infamous 360 degree mirror, many women still repeat the same mistakes.

That’s why Clinton has teamed up with Macy’s to help women reinvent their wardrobe. He’ll give tips how to wear fun spring trends while avoiding some of fashion’s biggest mistakes!

Clinton Kelly is best known for the warm humor and style advice he brings each week to TLC’s highly rated What Not to Wear. Since 2003 he has starred in more than 270 hour-long episodes of the series, in addition to several specials for TLC including Miss America (2008-2010), Fashioning a Home with Clinton Kelly, Mind Your Manners and Redo My Spouse.

He is the author of Freakin’ Fabulous: How to Dress, Speak, Behave, Eat, Drink, Entertain, Decorate and Generally Be Better than Everyone Else and Oh No She Didn’t: The Top 100 Style Mistakes Women Make and How to Avoid Them.

Toss ... Read More »]]> Since the middle of November, we’ve been working really hard to keep away from white sugar and white flour. The result is that our mostly healthy diet has gotten even healthier as we try to eat “close to the tree”.

It’s been fun to try new flavors and food combinations. We love cabbage and when I saw this recipe, I was so excited to find another way to eat this tasty, cruciferous veggie.

Start with 4 cups of shredded cabbage and a cup of shredded carrots. I did this in my food processor which makes the job a snap.

Chop an onion finely.

Toss the cabbage, carrots, and onion into a bowl. Season with pepper.

Stir together.

Measure out rice vinegar, mayonaisse, and sesame oil.

I used a couple of different ingredients for this. One is sriracha which is an Asian Hot Chili sauce. It was really easy to locate in the Asian food area of the grocery store.

The other item I used that’s a little different is stevia which is a natural sugar replacement. It’s extra sweet and you don’t need much. It comes with a tiny measure spoon and I added one of those.

Whisk together vinegar, mayonnaise, sesame oil, sriracha and stevia until smooth.

Then pour the dressing over the shredded vegetables and toss to combine.

Chill for several hours and serve.

Cabbage is a winter crop and is in season right now. The closer we get to St. Patrick’s Day the cheaper this fabu veggie will become. This slaw makes a perfect side dish for chicken!

Asian Slaw

4 cups shredded cabbage

1 cup shredded carrots

1 onion, chopped finely

Pepper and salt to taste

1 1/2 tbs seasoned rice vinegar

1/3 cup mayonnaise

1 1/4 tsp sesame oil

1/2 tsp srirarcha

1/4 tsp stevia

Toss cabbage, carrots and onion in a bowl. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Whisk together vinegar, mayonnaise, sesame oil, sriracha and stevia in a bowl until smooth.

Pour dressing over shredded veggies and toss to combine. Serve slaw immediately or chill for a few hours, tossing again before serving.

Well making it a tad bit easier, LEVI’s has introduced a new fit to the CURVE ID collection:

Designed to sit lower in the front and higher in the back for coverage that  “truly enhances the shape of a curvy body,” Supreme Curve has been introduced to address fit concerns for the fuller figured and curvier woman.   The latest campaign features some of our most recognizable faces in plus size fashion! I really like this campaign and I cannot wait to get my curves into these jeans!

“Women with a really curvy body have the most difficult time finding jeans that fit because most jeans are just too low in the back,” added Mary Alderete, global vice president of women’s marketing for Levi’s.  ”We tested this fit on women around the world and the response was incredible. Finally, jeans that fit and flatter real curves!”

With some preparation and a few tips and tricks up your sleeve, a family friendly meal can be ready and on the table in no time.

Here are a few things that help me get dinner on the table in a snap:

Read first. Read your recipe from beginning to end. Then pull out all of the ingredients and pots/pans you will need before you start cooking. This saves you time from making repeated trips back and forth to the pantry/fridge and allows you to be ready when you get to the next step of the recipe. Also, if you read your recipe in advance you can start cooking things like rice or meat first since they usually take longer to cook than other things like veggies.

Cry once. I cook with onions A LOT. Because I use them in multiple recipes throughout the week I will usually suffer through a good ‘ole onion “crying session” only one day a week, say Saturday or Sunday, when I have more time in the kitchen. I will chop 2 to 3 onions at one time and place them in plastic storage containers. The prepared onions will stay fresh for about a week and because they are pre-chopped, all I have to do on a busy night is pull them out and immediately add them to the food I am cooking.

Zest often. I use my grater/microplane zester daily to save time in the kitchen. Not only do these tools work great for freshly grating cheese or zesting lemons, they are useful to use when needing minced ginger or garlic. Fresh garlic and ginger are a tasty and inexpensive ingredient that can enhance a dish, but that are time consuming to chop. Simply use your microplane zester and run it over the peeled garlic or ginger and it will be ready for cooking in only seconds.

Creamy Fettuccine Alfredo with Chicken

INGREDIENTS:

2 chicken breasts

3 tablespoons olive oil

1 pound fettuccine noodles

½ cup butter

1 ¼  cups heavy cream

Salt and Pepper to taste

2 ½ cups freshly grated Parmesan cheese

DIRECTIONS:

1.Rub the chicken breasts with 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Season both sides of the chicken with salt and pepper.

2.Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add reaming 2 tablespoons of olive oil. Place prepared chicken in pan. Cover and let cook 7-8 minutes. Remove cover and flip chicken. Cover and let the chicken cook for an additional 6 minutes, or until cooked through. Remove cooked chicken from pan and let rest for 2-3 minutes and then slice.

3.Cook pasta according to package directions.  In a saucepan or skillet, warm butter and cream, over medium-low heat. Season with salt and freshly ground black pepper. Stir in 2 cups of freshly grated Parmesan cheese. Stir until fully incorporated.

4.Drain pasta and immediately pour it into a large bowl. Pour sauce over pasta and toss to evenly coat.

Top with prepared chicken and additional ½ cup Parmesan cheese. Serve immediately.
