Read More »]]> The LOFT held a fabulous party in Times Square to showcase their Fall 2012 line. Guests mingled around each room to see different styles dispersed according to color schemes. Bright pants paired with oversized-damask prints, geometric color-blocking, dashing dots and zebra prints filled the rooms. One of the reoccurring styling techniques included waistlines accentuated with feminine belts adorned with pretty bows and flowers. Also, get excited for the various styles of chic, sophisticated skirts in the line!

I love how the LOFT effortlessly puts a line together that can be intermixed between all sorts of prints and colors while still being incredibly chic. My favorite look is the leopard top, hot pink pencil skirt and striped coat—along with the Twiggy-style geometric dress.

Let’s not forget the accessories. Fedoras were spotted in each room—as well as classic chain necklaces that can go with any outfit to give it that polished, pulled together look. For the crisp fall air, LOFT has us covered in lightweight asymmetrical stripes, dots, and zebra wraps.

Key trends in Nomia’s line were strong ... Read More »]]> Yara Flinn is the designer behind the New York-based fashion line Nomia, which launched its first collection in 2007. The Nomia brand strives to make their buyer feel strong, sophisticated and empowered in the womenswear line.

At this presentation in the Lincoln Center, we were led into a close-knit space with a small runway. Standing room only, we watched the models file into the room individually. Once 3 girls were on the runway, they’d turn around and walk behind stage in time for the new set of girls to come out with more to present.

Key trends in Nomia’s line were strong geometric color-blocking with feminine details. Fur necklines and vests appeared from behind stage. She kept the color palette at neutral colors with bold pops of color (think neon pink, bright blues) to offset the natural look. Reese offers an optimistic color palette of vibrant tomato, juniper green and lemon, along with enlivening neutral browns, grays and blacks. A mixture of fabric, textures and embellishments create dimension on tailored silhouettes, abundant with refined craftsmanship details. Bold pops of fiery tomato orange energize the classic contrast of black and white, rejuvenating the time-honored combination. Subtle peplums update classic styles that remain flattering and wearable.

Mannequins modeled outfits meant to act as “coats of armor” for women equally parts feminine and ferocious.

Norisol Ferrari used furs, velvet, leather, spikes, and chains to craft an armored feeling for her clothes. She used blacks, creams, and reds in her line, using stretch and men’s coats. She really drew out her muse while fashioning her leather pieces. Her fabulous accessories accentuated her edgy pieces well, such as her outstanding head pieces and fur bags.

Drawing inspiration from New York’s drag queens and nightlife impresarios, she made eye-catching and fierce clothes for tech-savvy and efficient women. Numerous pockets adorned her clothes, making inspired places to store everything a woman on the go would need!
