Why does it always seem that the best advice is kept a secret? As redheads, we’ve noticed that the proper makeup advice is always kept hidden and today we are here to tell all redheads, natural or not-so-natural, what the secret is:

Why does it always seem that the best advice is kept a secret? As redheads, we’ve noticed that the proper makeup advice is always kept hidden and today we are here to tell all redheads, natural or not-so-natural, what the secret is:

1. Refrain from Brown Mascara

Sara Strand, the British founder of Pop Beauty who has bright red hair, said in an interview with the LA Times, “It seems like someone out there has told everyone to wear browns — everybody. I’ve been doing this for a long time and people keep telling me ‘No, no, no, I look better in earth tones and the browns,’ and I’m like ‘No. You don’t!’” Her most important advice for redheads is: “Don’t be afraid to wear proper color.”

Black mascara will make your eyes and hair pop. Don’t be afraid to go dark!

2. Hide Blonde Facial Hair

We are natural redheads and were born with blonde eyelashes, eyebrows and thankfully, body hair. It is very important to pencil in blonde eyebrows and use mascara on those eyelashes– redheads need definition.

3. Concealer, Concealer, Concealer!

Most redheads have red pigments in their skin and it’s important to use concealer over these areas or else it will clash with your red hair. After using concealer, brush on a mineral powder and bronzer.

Now, when you see a pretty redhead, you’ll know what is their secret.

These three tips will change your life. Now that the secret is OUT, rock that red hair.

We love it because she chose a color red that complimented her skin one which is very important factor when going red.

PREP- We always tell redheads, prepping your skin is the most important step in the makeup process because while it does prepare your skin, it also protects it from harmful elements of the environment.  If you’re in a pinch and only have a few minutes to get ready, make sure to cleanse and apply a light lotion.

MAKEUP- All you need is:

1) Concealer.

2) Loose mineral powder. There are so many out on the market today and we’ve tried many (probably all of them!) and find that most are the same. Experiment, but loose powder will give your skin a soft touch.

3) Clinque’s Colour Surge Eye Shadow Soft Shimmer 401 Sugar, Sugar

4) Black eyeliner with a thick black mascara

5) Bryce is wearing a rose colored blush, but we don’t advice wearing this color with red hair. Always opt for a golden tone- we love Tarte’s Park Avenue Princess.

6) YSL Rouge Pur Shine 16 Bohemia Rose lipstick.

Wa, La! You’re suddenly a more beautiful redhead than you ever thought was possible.  Enjoy, beautiful.

LEATHER- Just like New York, Paris was leathered-up and we think every redhead should own a leather coat. Pictured above, you’ll see Micky Green rockin’ a leather bomber jacket and it perfectly puts together her outfit and compliments her red locks.

WILD SHOES- Blogs across the internet have been featuring “street fashion” and one thing we noticed was Parisians are wearing the craziest shoes! We love red hair with a simple outfit, finished off with statement worthy shoes.

FUNKY TRENCHES- Trench coats with a 60’s-70’s spin are all the rage! To pull this off redheads, always wear a simple top.

SHEER- Florence Welch was one of the most fashionable celebrities at Paris Fashion Week and just so happens to be a great redhead with fabulous style. Sheer fabric, especially sheer skirts and shirts are a huge trend this season!

DRAMATIC PRINTS- We also saw this in New York, London and Milan Fashion Week’s. We use to be afraid to wear bright, loud prints because our hair itself is a fashion statement, but we realized that was nonsense! Red hair will look perfect with loud prints that are “redhead friendly,” such as green, black, purple and blue.
