Seattle’s Greenlake district, just northwest of the U-District, was always my favorite getaway from studies while I was in college. It’s a short bus, bike, or walk away from campus, and serves as a center point to north Seattle’s best neighborhoods: Ravenna, Ballard, Greenwood, and Wallingford. As such, it’s a convenient place to meet up with old friends, go on a walking date, or simply enjoy a meditational stroll on one’s own.
This Saturday, I did just that.

I didn’t realize this guy (below) was an alligator until I stopped to photograph the building behind him! Isn’t it interesting to think of the things that can just pass you by day-to-day?

On the way home, I stopped into one of my new favorite bookstores, Third Place Books. Sometimes the hum of an espresso machine and a surrounding of great authors is all you need to decompress after a long week.

Where do you go to relax?
