We at Chic Galleria are no strangers to Project Runway. From exclusive interviews to seeing their fashions on the runway, we’ve been there through it all. Getting to be a part of a day in their lives sheds a whole new light on the competition. It’s all of that attention to detail and fashion forward thinking that make it such a joy. There’s only one way for us to get even closer to the competition: how do they live? Interior design is an art in its own right and lucky us, we’ve got Project Runway interior designer Katherine De Luca’s tips and tricks to keep her homes as trendy as our bodies! Now I can live, breath, and sleep Project Runway.
1. Try D.I.Y.
The Project Runway apartments’ wall art can be easily achieved: simply use a staple gun to wrap frames with inexpensive fabric, or purchase blank canvases and paint to achieve a custom color.
2. Emphasize Lighting and Wall Décor
These are my favorite go-to home accessories that can instantly dress up a room for the better.
3. Learn to Flea!
If you’re in NYC, I highly recommend renting a Zipcar on the weekend to check out flea markets, antique shops, and furniture consignment shops in New Jersey, Connecticut, and upstate NY. Their inventory is generally less expensive, better quality, AND unique.
4. DO SAVE…
On linens, kitchenware, and even carpeting.
5. DO SPLURGE…
On a good sofa. You get what you pay for, and if you splurge on a sofa you will find that it is well made, lasts longer, and will be the perfect focal point in any apartment.
