After an extremely windy drive across Kansas, Austin and I arrived in Breckenridge, Colorado for a long weekend of relaxation, courtesy of the Breckenridge Resort Chamber. We settled into a beautiful villa at the ResortQuest Main St. Station and started our short walk down Main Street. I had forgotten about how much the altitude effects my breathing and I quickly got tired just walking up a few flights of steps. Luckily I spied an Oxygen Bar across the street and plan to give it a visit tomorrow.

We decided to stop in the Breckenridge Brewery for a beer sampler and an Ahi Tuna appetizer. I had been to the Breckenridge Brewery in Denver many years ago, so I knew the Stout was going to be good. Austin was rather fond of their Chili Autumn Ale and I chose the Vanilla Porter. The view from my seat inside the restaurant was amazing and admittedly I could have sat there all day.
Next, we walked down Main Street taking note of all the shops we wanted to visit during our stay. With Christmas around the corner, I knew I was going to be able to find some great gifts. Via a recommendation, we arrived at Modis in time for their Happy Hour. This restaurant was incredibly beautiful inside and I can only imagine how breathtaking it would be to watch the snow falling outside the floor-to-ceiling windows. We snacked on some delicious appetizers of steamed mussels in a tomato, jalapeno broth and a small bowl of olives. We ordered Fat Tire on draft because that’s not a beer we can get in Oklahoma. (But then beer in general in Oklahoma is awful!). The owner was in the bar meeting with different wine distributors, sampling their products and placing orders for the upcoming season. She joked with us about it being the best part of her job.
We wandered back up the street, stopping in the Breckenridge Hat Company to look for something fun for Clara. Then we ordered 3 crepes from Crepes A La Cart. I had the Bananas Foster, Austin enjoyed the Berry Swirl and we both loved trying the October special, Pumpkin Maple Cheesecake. To die for! We took them back to our villa since both of us were extremely tired. Between the altitude, good food, great drinks and the long drive, we were ready to call it a day.

Oh this makes me miss Breck…. I adore Crepes A La Cart, after skiing the kids would stand on the little step and watch them make their crepes!! So delicious!
All the great shopping, and art and everyone is so friendly!
Years ago we would go to the coffee shop next to the park called Stage Door. So many wonderful memories in this beautiful place!

Fun coffeeshop & treats called the Crown, I think, on Main Street. Wandering Daisy carries Happy First tees, cute boutique. Love love Breck! Our favorite restaurant is Angel’s Hollow.
