For those of you that have been long time readers of Chic Galleria and especially my personal page, you know that I’m a graduate of the University of Michigan School of Education. Not just any graduate though. I’m a 4th generation graduate. My great-grandfather, James Lowrie, graduated from the University of Michigan School of Dentistry in 1900. My grandmother, Harriett Yates, graduated from the University of Michigan College of Literature, Science and the Arts in 1928 . My mother, Jo Baughman, graduated from the University of Michigan School of Business Administration in 1956. My father, Robert Baughman, did his graduate studies at the University of Michigan School of Business Administration. Needless to say, I was born with maize and blue blood!
Here in Tulsa, we have an alumni group that gets together every Saturday to watch the game. Sometimes we’re at a local restaurant and other times we’re hosted in people’s homes. Two of my close friends are in the group, so it’s a blast to hang out with them every weekend! We have a wide age range of people in our group, spanning from people older than my mother to recent graduates. We enjoy spending time together and cheering on the Big Blue. I have to admit that I get quite a chuckle at the faces of people who come into the restaurant when we’re all there clad in our maize and blue. Oklahoma and Oklahoma State fans aren’t quite sure what to make of us! They look at us like we’re aliens from another planet.

Way to rock the yellow (talk about a perfect seasonal transition color…)! I’m jealous of your having an alma mater whose colors include blue–finding a pair of pants to pair my purple and gold UW t-shirts with is going to be a challenge.
