Jeremiah Brent. What are the first words that come to your mind when you hear that name? If you said sweetheart, adorable, precious, kind-hearted, down-to-earth, funny, and, most obviously, gorgeous you would be right. I won’t lie. I was a little nervous going into my interview with Jeremiah for obvious reasons. He is my favorite castmate from The Rachel Zoe Project but I’ve heard the horror stories about most celebrities being hard to speak with during interviews. Jeremiah is certainly the exception when it comes to that celebrity stereotype. He has not let his newfound fame get to him by any means. After the first minute, I realized that this was not only a celebrity I was speaking with, but a guy who has the same passion for styling and design as I do. He is just an everyday guy who is lucky enough to work with one of the top stylists in the fashion world and trust me, it has not expanded his ego! Jeremiah was so kind and even complimented me on my very southern accent, which I was so self-conscious of and tried my best to hide. His passion for design is obvious when you speak to him about his joys in life. He was easy to speak with and so thankful for every moment of his journey. Jeremiah is going places and fast! I am forever grateful that I had the opportunity to speak with such a personable and warm-hearted gentleman! Today, I want to share my interview with Jeremiah Brent.
Kaitlin: Good morning Jeremiah! This is Kaitlin on behalf of ChicGalleria.com!
Jeremiah: Hi, how are you?
Kaitlin: I’m great, how are you?
Jeremiah: I’m fantastic, just trying to recover from traveling back and forth from the east coast but I’m totally coming back.
Kaitlin: How was your viewing party last night?
Jeremiah: It was real! I mean, more than 10 people showed up which I was very excited about. It was fun. It was obviously uncomfortable because I got to stand in front of people and watch myself cry on national television but other than that it was a good time.
Kaitlin: Has it been overwhelming with all of the fans?
Jeremiah: Yeah, you know, it’s funny one of the people that came last night asked me what was the best part during the show and I have to be honest just to have that opportunity to just be able to sit down and talk with those people who are invested in the show and just my role in it has been the best part for me. It’s fantastic, yeah.
Kaitlin: So, the season finale was last night. How did it feel to get your job back and to hear the nice things Rodger said about you and how hard you work?
Jeremiah: I mean, I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to describe what it feels like because I know people who have worked hard for 30 years and never got rewarded for that so to have meetings where Rachel is talking with Rodger saying I love him and I want him is incredibly rewarding and there’s no better feeling than working really hard and then having someone look at you and say you did a great job and we want you here now.
Kaitlin: Especially someone like Rachel!
Jeremiah: I did not expect it when he said there is someone I really want to thank and then he pointed at me! I was like wait, what? Totally unexpected!
Kaitlin: You know, when you got fired a lot of Rachel’s fans turned to you, towards team Jeremiah. Did that feel crazy and surreal to you? How did you feel about that?
Jeremiah: I think that when I made the choice to do the show and to just be myself 100%, even the vulnerability, which I think you know is the truth, it was a really vulnerable part and time of my life and to have people respond to that and actually care about my future and what I’m doing and where I go from here. I don’t think there is really any better way to be or feel. It was pretty amazing. People have been so sweet it’s like unnerving sometimes.
Kaitlin Yeah, you’ve been getting a lot of really good feedback on this show!
Jeremiah: As long as I don’t shave my head I think people will be okay!
Kaitlin: That’s funny you say that! Whenever I told my fiancé I was going to interview you he actually said to ask you what kind of hair gel you use!
Jeremiah: Oh yes, that’s good. Everybody asks me that. I use the Nevada pomade clay. I wish I could give you the exact name of it but now I cant think of it.
Kaitlin: Well, it works!
Jeremiah: Aw thank you. I know, right! Who knew? See, the truth is my hair is crazy and I just kind of let it do what it wants to do and I try to control the chaos.
Kaitlin: It turns out perfect. People are actually comparing your hair to Edward Cullen’s so it’s working for you.
Jeremiah: People always tell me I dress like a vampire. I’m like, that’s not good is it?
Kaitlin: No, it’s just the hair. It looks great!
Jeremiah: Aw thank you so much.
Kaitlin: Is it scary to have a camera in front of you all the time?
Jeremiah: Yeah, I mean it definitely just takes some getting used to. I mean, waking up on the floor of someone’s bedroom with a camera there was definitely unsuspecting. You know, after a couple of months you get really used to it and those people you get really close to and you care about them and you feel like you’re just talking to another friend.
Kaitlin: Whenever Joey came back I think a lot of people kind of felt bad for you because you were working so hard. Did you ever feel threatened by Joey at all?
Jeremiah: No, the truth is I think Joey, I mean I know Joey, comes from a good place. He’s one of those people who obviously doesn’t filter what he thinks sometimes but Joey has known Rachel for years and there’s a lot of trust there and he’s been there for her through some of the most difficult times of her life so I knew coming in to work with Rachel that I had to make it clear that I’m not there to be anybody’s best friend and if a friendship happens and it evolves then great but I was there for work and that’s the truth. You know? And there’s a lot of work that was going to need to be done in order to stay as a part of that company and I knew that coming into it.
Kaitlin: What can we expect from you as far as interior design and your involvement with Rachel Zoe?
Jeremiah: Well, I essentially, gosh there’s so much I wish I could tell you. Essentially, I’m Rachel’s new home design and furniture authority so it’ll be home related, parties, interior. I’m your go to guy and if we do another season you’ll see a lot more of that and exactly what I’m doing for her.
Kaitlin: When will you know whether or not you are doing another season?
Jeremiah: I don’t know. We should know in a couple of weeks I think. I think it’s a pretty quick turn around.
Kaitlin: I think it’s going to be great I definitely think you have another season in the future. It was a great season!
Jeremiah: It was fun, right? I think everyone got to see a different side of Rachel and Rodger that they haven’t seen before.
Kaitlin: Yeah, they really did and it was a much softer side. I really liked it.
Jeremiah: I mean, trust me, when she started crying I lost it. I was not expecting it.
Kaitlin: Me either but that had to have made you feel so special.
Jeremiah: It did! I felt really special being included in that group of people, you know? Everybody at the table and people you really don’t even get to see that are on the show work so hard all day long every day long and you know it felt good to be included in them.
Kaitlin: I can only imagine. Another thing a lot of people are talking about, they are saying you have amazing man cleavage. How do you find the time to keep up your physique since you are so busy all of the time?
Jeremiah: It’s so embarrassing, you know? I’m never going to wear a deep v-neck again! No one told me how low those shirts were.
Kaitlin: No, it looks amazing. You should totally show it off!
Jeremiah: No, I’m so shy! The truth is with working out, I go every morning just because it’s an hour that I don’t do anything but just relax, ironically. I mean I don’t have a phone on me, I’m listening to music, and I just kind of check out for one hour and it’s like my own personal form of yoga, you know? But I’ve always been active. I’ve always done sports growing up and stuff like that so I always have to be doing something physical.
Kaitlin: Well, don’t give up on the v necks, I think its your trade mark. That and your hair!
Jeremiah: No it’s horrible! You don’t understand. Every time I see someone and they’re like “man cleavage” , I’m like “oh no!”
Kaitlin: A question everyone is wondering is are you dating anybody?
Jeremiah: No, I’m single. I’ve been single for almost three years.
Kaitlin: Is it by choice or you just haven’t found the right person?
Jeremiah: No, I think I definitely have the most notorious work schedule. I work a lot but I mean I just. No, its not by choice. I’m definitely open.
Kaitlin: Well, I’m sure you’ll find somebody. Do you have any advice for someone who wants to break into the fashion and design world?
Jeremiah: Yeah, I mean it’s hard for me. I definitely lucked out. I happened to get involved with something that most people would die to get involved with but I mean I think a lesson I learned really quickly is you’ve got to be ready to work. You know, I did the skincare and worked for Rachel and I did it there for free but worked, you know, an 18-hour day or doing it, not because I have to. I’m doing it because I love it. It’s the passion and being filled by that passion. It’s that same kind of feeling I have for design and furniture, you know. I can say I haven’t had a day off in three weeks but essentially it’s because everyday I’m working and I love what I’m doing so my advice would just be to work and work hard.
Kaitlin: That’s great advice, really. Who’s your celebrity crush?
Jeremiah: I don’t know! I mean, Anne Hathaway is my all time celebrity crush for numerous reasons but I don’t think, no , I don’t have a celebrity crush I’ll have to get back to you on that.
Kaitlin: Okay well thank you so much Jeremiah. It’s been great talking to you.
Jeremiah: Thank you so much. You’re so sweet and I love your accent.
Kaitlin: Thank you! I’m actually trying to hide it! It’s so strong! I was actually practicing saying good morning this morning!!
Jeremiah: No, I love a southern accent. I have friends in Texas and that accent gets me every time.
Kaitlin: Aw thanks. You are such a sweetheart and I so hope you’ll be on the next season. I just know you will. We are all voting for you.
Jeremiah: Aw thank you so much. Thank you for watching this season.
Kaitlin: Thank you so much. You’re my favorite and I hope that you go far and I aspire to be in your shoes one day.
Jeremiah: Aw thank you, you’re so sweet.
Jeremiah: Thanks for taking the time to talk to me.
Kaitlin: Thank you so much Jeremiah and I hope you have a great day!
