Luckily, if you aren’t naturally waking up to flawless looking skin, much has been accomplished in the advancement of faking it. Beauty companies know that we want to dumb down the look of our wrinkles and have our pores to appear minimized, and most of don’t want to undergo pricey treatments to get there. And pain, possible bruising and downtime aren’t in the cards either, for me anyway, so that is all the more reason these products intrigue me. They claim to minimize pores, lessen the look of fine lines and wrinkles and set the stage for foundation, if you choose to wear it. Here’s a brief rundown of each one and what it brings to the makeup table.
Benefit Cosmetics the POREfessional ~ This balm can be used under or over makeup and minimizes the appearance of pores. Oil free formula.
L’Oreal Studio Secrets Secret No. 1 Magic Perfecting Base ~ Smoothes skins surface and provides a unified matte finish. Works well on redness.
Philosophy The Present Clear Makeup ~ Called a ‘clear makeup’, this product can be used alone or under colored makeup. It is also billed as an oil-free moisturizer.
Nanoblur ~ I personally use this product and I love that it provides a matte look while it fills in large pores and gives an even look to skin.
Too Faced Primed & Poreless ~ With vitamins and Retinol added, this primer has a bit of color so you can skip the extra step of foundation, in many cases.
CoverGirl & Olay SimplyAgeless Serum Primer ~ A clear product with Olay Regenerist complex added provides firming effects while readying the skin for foundation.
While not promising to be a cure all for skin woes, these skin primers can set the stage for better, younger and more lively looking skin. If at all possible, and I always recommend this when buying any makeup or skin care products, ask for samples and wear the product for at least 8 hours to get a true feel for how it works on you. There are a variety of price points for skin primers and before you spend on the high end I would confirm that the purchase is actually worth the investment.
