Material Girl officially launched at Macy’s (online and at 200 stores around the country) on Tuesday, August 3. Macy’s Herald Square had two major events in New York city to celebrate the launch.

The first 200 customers that shopped the collection at Macy’s Herald Square on 8.3.10 received a $10 Macy’s gift card and a free Material Girl bandeau top.

Later that afternoon Gossip Girl’s Taylor Momsen made a special appearance and live performance. Taylor is the “Celebrity Muse” for Material Girl and she’ll be on hand to celebrate the launch. Shoppers who made a $50 “Material Girl” purchase had the opportunity to meet and have their photo taken with Taylor.

Taylor also performed with Ben Phillips one of her band mates from the Pretty Reckless.  It’s clear to see why Momsen was selected to be the face of Material Girl.  She represents beauty, talent, fashion and bit of edge.  Similar to Madonna a “Material Girl” is a free thinker and enjoys making a statement especially through her clothing.

It’s made up of apparel, footwear, handbags and jewelry and sold exclusively at Macy’s

Fall 2010 “Material Girl” is all about prints and embellishments. A mix of hard and soft elements, like a tutu dress and studded combat boots, or an oversized boyfriend sweatshirt with a floral print mini skirt.
