bronzer 300x203 Tips on Using Bronzer

Since Summer is around the corner, I’m getting a lot of questions about getting a sun-free bronze look.  The best, quickest and cheapest way to do this is with bronzer.

I have found that many women are scared of bronzer, and rightfully so.  There are many bronzer horror stories out there…it seems that many companies don’t know how to make a wearable bronzer.  Because of this, many women have sworn off the stuff.  I don’t blame you!!!!!

Here are a few tips, and I have also included some for women of color:

What specific brands/colors of bronzers work best for all colors of  women? Guerlain makes a great bronzer called “Terracotta” that doesn’t have too much shimmer.  If you are on a budget, IMAN has a nice one, too.  For those of you looking for all natural bronzers, CDB makes a great all natural, organic-based bronzing powder that is not too dark.  It is the perfect blend of warm colors, and golden warmth.

What’s the best brush to apply the bronzer and highlighter? A smaller brush means you will minimize chances of using too much product.  Generally a “blush brush” is perfect for bronzer and highlighter.  I also recommend a synthetic brush, since many women are allergic to animal hair brushes.  Bronzer should not be applied all over the face like a foundation.  Use it sparingly on the cheeks, nose and lightly on the forehead.

Some women think they are too dark to wear a bronzer. Not true!!!!  Bronzer helps to warm up the tones on any skin color, so it’s perfect for all shades of African American women.  It also helps to add a “glow” to the skin that you normally wouldn’t have.
