Spring is just about here, along with summer and its most popular wedding months; May, June and August! These are the top months to walk down the isle and with the warm weather, comes new trends from the veil to the wedding shoes. This season’s key looks are so romantic; we had to share for all of you still looking for “The Dress”.
Layers and Layers of Ruffles and Lace: Details are the main focus this season with tiers of silk chiffon and organza piled on the skirt or accentuating the neckline. Classic silhouettes and Grecian draping are updated by adding rose buds and floral knots in lovely arrangements. If you prefer a less girly look, go for “Americana” and try bridal gowns with pleating or an interesting touch of gingham or print.
Shorten Up: Hemlines are rising for warmer weather; tea-length dresses for this spring and summer were seen all over the runway in lace and airy fabrics. David’s Bridal offers slimming or A-line silhouettes in lace and sheer fabrics, leaving room for flirty wedding shoes and accessories. Try pairing this style with peep-toe d’Orsays and a light cashmere cardigan in a pale hue that will be perfect to keep warm in the evening.
Go Back in Time: Some of you have found the perfect dress, but want to add a key piece to refresh the traditional look. Designers have created beautiful, timeless bridal headpieces for spring. A bird-cage wedding veil is a stylish alternative to the usual waist-skimming length. If you are planning an outdoor ceremony, consider keeping the sun off your face with a chic, straw boater or derby hat as seen at Carolina Herrera’s spring 2010 Collection.
Add a Splash of Color: Most of you will stick to the customary head-to-toe white, although, some are looking for an unconventional way to personalize your look. Adding a pop of color to your dress or accessories is modern and refreshing. Many wedding styles include a colorful sash around the waist or wearing a solid-color or print shoe. You could also nix the white dress all together and go for a subtly hinted warm or cool colored wedding gown, such as blush or pale pewter.
Trend or not, always stick to a limited amount. Too many trends are never stylish, so choose one that will compliment your wedding theme and personality!
