Yesterday afternoon marked the preview of “Gaudet” fall/winter collection 2010. Featured in the Allstream venue in Toronto, this show was surely something to see.
In a beautiful opening, there was a tribute made to the fallen Olympic hero and athlete Nodar Kumartishvili – singers and dancers from the athletes home land were performed. They were beautiful and true to the country’s roots.
Shortly after, Gaudet’s show began – what a beautiful show it was!
Like many of the collections this fall, there was a certain vintage element that ran through the collection (immediately winning me over, as most of you now know). Not only this, but the models had the most STUNNING makeup – a gold and lace combination that went across their foreheads and cascaded down towards the eyes. It was beautiful. The hair, thrown up in a teased ponytail, added a edgy/tribal element to the collection.

As with many of the fall collections, there was a vast array of neutral shades, but some of the pieces had a beautiful splashes of deeper aquas, oranges and greens.
There were many longer jackets and vests in leathers, silks and knits – and plenty of colourful tights and leggings to go around! I particularly enjoyed the pieces that looked like they had been splattered with paint.
I enjoyed the fact that the men’s wear was also colourful and pushing the limits – something many designers I feel stay away from.
My favorite piece by far was organza and merino wedding dress – gorgeous.
Loved the collection – looking forward to seeing more of what Gaudet comes up with next.
