Charlotte Saavedra, owner of Starlooks Boutique, started an online store with the dream of becoming an entrepreneur and leaving a family legacy. “I have always loved fashion, yet could never afford to buy the things I wanted for my children. I figured if I had my own store, perhaps I could buy them the things I wanted at a larger discount. Yet, as the economy grew starker, I also realized how many of the things we purchase are import items. I came to the realization that probably only 5% of what we purchase is in fact made in the USA. That is when the two ideas merged and became Starlooks Boutique: an online store that offered moms and dads the opportunity to purchase American made items – which in turn directly supports the American workforce (often at a discount – offered to newsletter subscribers),” says Charlotte.
As owner of Starlooks Boutique and part time college student studying to obtain a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, Charlotte offers the perfect products for people looking to buy American-made products. “Thus far, I have a year and a half of classes under my belt and approximately the same for Starlooks Boutique,” says Charlotte. “After graduating, I plan on going to grad school for either an MBA or a PsyD. I have five gorgeous children – a 13 year old stepson, an 8 year old daughter, a 6 year old son, a 4 year old son, and a 2 year old daughter. The 8 and 6 year old are home schooled while my stepson stays with his mom. Yes, I am very busy, just like any other mom! My husband works out of town (2 weeks on, 2 weeks off) on the North Slope here in the great state of Alaska. So half of the time it is like I am a single mom on top of everything else.”
Starlooks Boutique’s best selling items include:
Peri Ponchos – made out of Portland, Oregon.
My Very Own House – a Cool Mom Picks pick! Made in Ohio, USA.

“We have a new front page design coming up. We’ll improve our design to make it easier to find what you need. We also plan on implementing a customer review tool and gift registry. One thing we’ve noticed is people love buying American made! So I am very happy to offer a wide variety of items, from things for mom and baby to gifts for older children, including teens. We also have a small section for dads. We’d like to expand our product line to include more unique, one-of-a-kind items (such as expanding our custom jewelry) and perhaps customized paper products. We would love to offer more products that are 100% made in the USA. Most of the clothing we sell is made by moms that understand the need to utilize American-made blanks and fabrics. Part of our expansion will include more of these types of products in the near future. Our philosophy is supporting our homeland.”
“Another plan is starting and maintaining a new blog that is entirely devoted to American made items, from jeans and cars to shoes, purses, and kitchen items, etc. (not just kid-related items, like we have on our current blog). There are so many possibilities out there that anyone with a dream, motivation, and the right tools can set themselves up for success. I hope Starlooks Boutique inspires our American manufacturers to stay in business and/or grow. This will in turn help our economy – after all, (in this day in age), every little bit counts!”
