Previously, I gave you 5 basic pieces that could easily be incorporated into your work wardrobe and could even be used for “play”. Now, let’s take those 5 basic pieces and ADD SOME FLAIR!
You can never go wrong with the basic pieces. They ARE a STAPLE. But, let’s bring these staples to “life” a little bit:
1. Pencil Skirt. An item that can easily become a focal point of your outfit by adding ruffles, textures and/or embellishments.

2. Light Wool/Gabardine Dress Pants. Pants in a print, texture, or color can breathe life into a basic pants/shirt/cardigan ensemble.
3. Cardigan. Adding embellishments freshens up any basic (boring) cardigan!

4. White Button Down Shirt. Change colors! Make it pinstripe, don’t always stick to the basics!

5. Sheath Dress. Think back to the days of Jackie O. A simple sheath is ALWAYS in style. Again, why not change it up from the basic black or the basic shape!
Now, don’t you think these are a little more fun than your 5 basic pieces that I previewed earlier in an article? Smart Staples: For Work and Play! Yet, when you look at these items, ultimately, they are still your 5 basic pieces, BUT WITH FLAIR!
